Essay: Question: Should we bring outsourced jobs back to the US, why or why not?
Is it possible to bring IT jobs back to the US? While not all IT jobs can be brought back, a significant number of high value added ITs jobs could be brought back to the US. The US has a culture of innovation, educated, and a skilled work force. Basic Industries like Harley Davidson sell their products all over the world. Their innovation as well as that of Apple and Google helps show American ingenuity. American educated workers are reclaiming back office jobs, because most American’s are more comfortable with native English speakers. One Mumbai-based outsourcing executive stated, “We just can’t get the accent right.” Outsourcing back office jobs to non-native English speakers can reflect negatively on a company. The US has more highly skilled workers who are more efficient then most outsourced countries. They provide business services with more output per hour then any other country making it worth the hirer wages. As urbanization peaks in LDC’s they are competing against MDC’s for back office jobs, but LDC’s do not have the same innovation, education, and skilled workforce that MDC’s have. Therefore companies should seriously consider brining jobs back to America.
